Post-op lymphatic drainage massage is a specialised form of manual therapy designed to help patients recover after surgery. This gentle technique encourages the movement of lymphatic fluid, reducing swelling (edema), preventing scar tissue formation, and promoting faster healing. It is beneficial for those who have undergone cosmetic surgeries, such as liposuction or tummy tucks (and much more), but can also be helpful after any general surgery such as laparoscopy, joint replacement surgeries (and much more).

Please ensure you book your post-surgery appointments in advance of going for surgery. Consistency is key, I advise purchasing a course of treatments for your post-surgery needs. A pre-surgery treatment is also advised – three days or more before surgery date if possible.

What to expect during a post-op lymphatic drainage massage:

A post-op lymphatic drainage massage involves light, rhythmic strokes that are applied to the body in a specific direction to stimulate the lymphatic system. I focus on areas near surgical incisions and swelling to gently move excess fluid toward lymph nodes for elimination. The treatment is typically painless, though it may feel tender if you’ve recently had surgery.
You can book in your sessions from 48 hours post-surgery although a consultation is advised for a personalised aftercare plan.
